ABOUT ICON BREAD

shaskan.jpg.jpe

When Trent Shaskan moved to Fort Worth, Texas from San Francisco, California, he keenly felt the dearth of his favorite tangy, crusty, flavorful sourdough bread in this area. Previously a college professor, he set out to establish a sourdough bakery that would bring the flavors of his hometown to his new town. What he found along the way, however, was so much more. He found connection, community, and yes, he figured out how to make really, really great bread. Just ask Icon Bread's hundreds of loyal weekly customers!

Icon Bread was established in 2014 and has been through a few phases: from a sidewalk stand, to a market stall, to a brick-and-mortar establishment. More recently, Icon has pulled back to the baking basics - supplying local restaurants, serving customers old & new at farmers markets in Fort Worth, and spreading the love of sourdough baking through Trent's "iconic" sourdough bread classes.

OUR BREAD

We don’t just bake bread - we commune with it. It’s a funky, daily dance with wild yeast, Texas-milled flour, time, and a bit of wizardry. The end result: honest, crusty loaves with chewy insides and tangy personalities, born from patience, great grain, and a lot of community feedback.
